🔵HF: NTS (Speed in word recognition)

NTS indicates word recognition: the reading speed factor is very different from reading comprehension. NTS indicates the ability of students to complete reading tasks. Anyone who is below school level in this skill will find it difficult to do school work because of their slow reading pace. Such persons require more time.

It is recommended that older students take a course in speed reading with emphasis on saccadic movements. Children could be provided with interesting books (two grades below their school level) for higher achievement. Low CUM and high NTS indicate the need for vocabulary acquisition.
